Andhra Fish Fry Recipe (Chepa Vepudu Recipe)

Ingredients

  • 500 grams Fish slices (seer fish or king fish) (cut into steaks)
  • ½ cup Peanut Oil (for pan frying)

For Marination (to make into a paste)

  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 3 tbsp Kashmiri Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 2 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 tsp Salt (to taste)
  • 4 tbsp Lemon Juice or Vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Peanut Oil

Steps

  1. 1

Wash, clean and pat dry the fish pieces with some paper towel.

  2. 2

Take all ingredients given for marination in a bowl. Make it into a paste. Add more oil or lemon juice for consistency. Taste this marination and adjust seasoning.

  3. 3

Take each fish slices and coat with this masala on both sides of the fish. Now place this fish on a plate and set aside for 30 minutes to marinate.

  4. 4

Now heat oil in a cast iron tawa. Once oil gets hot, gently place the fish pieces on the oil and pan fry fish for 3 minutes on one side. Make sure you fry the fish on high heat. Once the bottom side is golden, flip over and cook on other side for 2 more minutes.

  5. 5

Gently remove the fried fish to a serving plate. Garnish with lemon wedges and Serve hot.
